Do it Yourself...If you have the Thyme

I apologize for not posting lately. We have been swamped! We (my husband and I) went on a trip to Lancaster, PA with my Aunt and Uncle and my grandmother (Mimi).

The BEST ice cream shop!

This weekend, we did a lot of things around the house. Webb mowed the yard, finished a table we bought in Lancaster (pictures to come soon) and helped work on my "summer project" my grandparents table. I on the other hand stayed in the house and did some DIY projects. I made a herb "garden" and a lemon blueberry cake.
Here are the materials you will need: chalk, chalkboard paint, planting pots, paint tape, sponge brush, raffia and of course herbs of your choice. I used pre-potted herbs but I am sure you could plant your own and watch them grow.

This was such a fun and "delicious" project!

Doesn't the yard look nice?

Heirlooms

This is going to be a very special project for me. I found this table in my grandparents barn this past fall. It was my grandmother's parents table. They sat at this table when they first got married and my grandparents sat at this table also. I am going to use part of this summer to refinish this table and get it back into a loving home.

So here is the plan:
Follow these instructions so that the table will resemble the one below.

It seems fairly "easy." I will definitely post pictures when I have completed my project and tell you the tale of how "easy" it was.

"All that I come from and all that I live for and all that I'm going to be, my precious family is more than an heirloom to me." Amy Grant's song Heirlooms

Younger than Springtime...

With this Memorial day weekend kicking off the "unofficial" start of summer...I just wanted to bid adieu to spring. Spring is one of the most beautiful seasons with the beginnings of new life and new blooms. Here are a few pictures to celebrate this past spring...

Peonies...one of my very favorites.

Gerber daisies...my grandmother's favorites. Planted these to remind me of her.

Flowers picked from around the house (except the hydrangeas).
Baby robins. They kinda look hungry?

So now we are off to enjoy the next season...summer! Bring on the heat, BBQ's, swimming pools and lots and lots of freckles! :)

Even Cooper is ready for summer with his new hair cut!

Us...

My husband and I all gussied up.

Making his debut. Our main man...Cooper.

Da Capo

"Da Capo" meaning that a player should start (or go back) to the beginning (of a piece of music). So here is my first post about the soundtrack of my life. I am a wife, to my wonderful husband Webb, for almost three years. A "mother" to our beautiful golden retriever Cooper. I am a Music Therapist, an ameatuer baker, an aspiring florist (ha!) and lover of all things beautiful! We live in a small community in Southwestern Virginia that I absolutely adore!!! Stay posted for things that inspire me and the fun, loving and sometimes crazy adventures of our lives.
